Spirituality and Education SIG
Chairs: Dr Patricia Carlisle and Prof. Sara Horton-Deutsch
The Spirituality and Education Special Interest Group was launched online on 24 April 2024. We welcome participation from those interested in the interplay of spirituality and education in all of its diversity - from early childhood education to adult and higher education, as well as in professional contexts, voluntary organization, and community settings. We aim to enable participants to explore how spirituality relates to varied but complementary interests in practices, theories, and policies associated with education, teaching, and learning throughout the life course.
In these early stages of development, a period when we are developing relationships and allowing the group’s interests to form, we welcome expressions of interest to present on a range of topics to support the evolution of the SIG—for example, a newly forming idea, a theoretical development, or a critical exploration of policy.

NEXT MEETING: 20 NOVEMBER, 15.00-16.00 UK time
As we continue to progress through this early phase of development we offer the following question to ponder before our November gathering:
As educators and contemplative / reflective practitioners how do we navigate both global challenges and inner spiritual journeys?
This gathering will provide another opportunity to engage and further focus our collective interests. Participants will be encouraged to share how their work relates to spirituality and education in its varied form.
