Dear members, for our next meeting we would like to invite you to an open discussion.
For this occasion, we would like to think about when an artwork is spiritually significant. This is a question that was raised by some participants in our previous discussion about the role of the artist in contemporary art. This question is important especially in the context of theory of art. Can we define the canons of spiritually concerned art? What makes a work of art spiritual? Is it a purely subjective experience or judgement? Does it require an artist's intention? And what is its relation to beauty? Is beauty a spiritual value?
These are just some questions that we could discuss.
We look forward to our discussion.
