This Spirituality and Education Special Interest Group welcomes people to explore the interplay of spirituality and education. Our interests are diverse — from across the life course in educational and professional contexts, voluntary organizations and community settings.
We are continuing to build upon our revised format of a twenty-minute presentation and dialogue. This provides opportunities for us to learn more about the interplay of spirituality and education across diverse settings. Please see below for further details about our forthcoming presenter and their presentation.
William Bloom will present an overview of the National Schools' Spiritual Wellbeing project currently being undertaken by the educational charity, the Spiritual Companions Trust, which he leads. This work is founded on the Diploma in Spiritual Coaching & Caregiving (CFI L3), which is the only UK qualification of its kind on the Ofqal Register. William is the author of many books including ’The Power of Modern Spirituality.’ His doctoral research into identity politics was conducted at the London School of Economics where he taught and was published by Cambridge University Press. His background also includes two years spiritual retreat in the High Atlas Mountains of southern Morocco. He is an advocate of a person-centred approach to spirituality.
