Spiritual Crisis, Emergency and Peer Support
Presentation by Dr Mike Rush

Dr Mike Rush is a long-standing volunteer and former director of the UK Spiritual Crisis network (SCN) and has facilitated peer-support for people affected by spiritual crisis for over ten years. His research focuses on spiritual crisis and spiritual/religious experiences and he offers one-to-one and peer support, workshops and courses on spiritual crisis and related topics.
This presentation discusses the phenomenon of spiritual crisis and spiritual emergency and describes and the work of the UK Spiritual Crisis Network. It summarises key PhD research findings exploring assessments of peer-support in this context, and 'grounding' as a key component of integration work following spiritual crisis.
The presentation will be followed by questions and a group discussion.
Welcoming all INSS members to this SIG focussing upon spirituality, mental health and wellbeing across diverse contexts, including in relation to study, research and practice.
The group emphasises co-creating a safe yet focussed space to reflect, explore and share skills and inspiration together.
