Accommodation

Early booking is ESSENTIAL as many venues are already (27 February)

fully booked.

Ireland is a popular visitor destination and many hotels and bed & breakfast accommodations become fully booked well in advance. Also, be advised that a major European event is taking place on another campus of SETU on overlappiing dates with our conference which will put a good deal of extra pressure on accommodation places.

It is often possible to secure a booking with a credit card without making full payment until close to the conference date

The Tower Hotel is the conference hotel and venue for the optional conference dinner. It had a limited number of rooms at a special rate for conference delegates but they are now filled. Bookings at public rates are still available, but they are also expected to book out very soon (Email: events@thw.ie, mentioning INSS 2023)

The Viking Hotel also offered a special rate to conference delegates for single room occupancy because of its association with SETU, but bookings had to be made by 31 December 2022 (Email: lprendergast@vikinghotel.ie, mentioning INSS 2023). You are now advised to book online to get the best guaranteed rate, and to do so as soon as possible because of the major event mentioned above that will be happening nearby.

Other venues include The Granville Hotel, Dooleys Hotel, Fitzwilton Hotel and Travelodge

The Tower Hotel is 5 mins walk from the Granville Hotel, 7 mins from from Dooleys Hotel, and 15 mins from the Fitzwilton Hotel. It is also possible to walk from The Viking Hotel (25 mins) or Travelodge (about the same) to the SETU Cork Rd Campus where the conference will be held.

A coach will be provided between The Tower Hotel and the Cork Road Campus

on 17 and 18 May, and after the public lecture on 16 May, for those staying at The Tower Hotel.

If you are not staying at The Tower, please contact me to see if there would be availability on the coach (Michael.OSullivan@setu.ie).

W1 bus goes to the campus every 30 mins from the clock tower very close to The Granville and Dooleys and W2 bus returns there.

Consider, also, downloading the Rapid Cabs app to your phone and setting up an account

Dublin Airport to Waterford

There is a JJ Kavanagh coach from Dublin Airport to Waterford. It departs close to the exit door at Dublin airport, from Coach Park, Zone 16. The coach journey takes about 3 hours. The coach company strongly advise booking in good time online. You will see the timetable in both directions by googling JJ Kavanagh Coach Dublin Airport - Waterford.

The coach stops in Waterford opposite Dooleys Hotel and at Parnell St (Rapid Cabs). It is a 10 mins walk onwards to The Tower Hotel, which is the conference hotel, and a 7 mins walk back to the hotel from Rapid Cabs stop on Parnell St.
